Oh Grenada

So today - the day of all days - our battery died. We have always called our car the miracle car. It's a piece, but we've never had to put more than 30 EC into it at a time. And that's happened maybe a couple times a term. So today - Jayson's test day - it doesn't start. Unbelievable. So we borrow the neighbor's car and get Jayson to school in time to take his test - no problem.

Then Jayson spends the majority of his afternoon finding a new battery and replacing the old one just in time so we can spend the rest of the day driving to a far away beach to take pictures. Surprise Surprise. On the way home my friend and fellow photographer's car breaks down. They were following us and we get the call saying "there was a spark under the car and then it just died" Not words of encouragement. So we turn around and haul back up the hill to find the hood open, something leaking profusely from the underbelly of the car, and low and behold a small spark in the engine. And by spark I mean a live spark with the possibility of lighting the leaking battery fluid and bursting into flame. So we put that out. It turns out that the battery had wiggled free and gotten punctured. So it was now leaking battery acid everywhere. Not a good thing. So now we needed a plan ... what to do with the car?

So remembering that he had left the 'bad' car battery in the parking lot at the apartment complex Jayson (dun da dah dun) says we should grab that battery, replace the dangerous one with it, jump the car, and drive to safety.

So Renny (dun da dah dun) hero #2 arrives with his headlamp and the boys get down to business while Lexi and I play the helpless damsels in distress at the back of the car (where it was semi safe). Miraculously the car actually starts with this harebrained scheme and we all make it safely home again. Where we're about to have Boulangerie!

The moral? When your battery dies it's because it's needed in someone elses car so don't be upset, just be ready to help. er something like that :)
