Let me just start by saying that I absolutely hate the trip back and forth from Grenada. It is so long. This time we left at 9 am Thursday morning and didn't get to Grenada until 6:30 pm Friday. I just hate it. But this time was a little more enjoyable because we got to stop over in Long Beach for a few (about 8) hours and hang out with our good friends the Monroes. Dustin was really great and took us around for some last minute errands. And then we picked Melissa up from school and ate our last meal at Soup Plantation - one of our favorite restaurants. It was a great way to start the trip! So here are some pictures of Long Beach.
How many bags of luggage can two people possibly need? Well if you've lived in a foreign country then you understand how much the little things mean. The sunflower seeds, the Taco Bell mild sauce, the sour patch kids, and of course ... the mixer!! All these wonderful comforts from home take up a lot of space!
I felt like paparazzi taking this picture of Dustin as he arrived to pick us up from the airport. He was so great to take us to all those places.
Then, and unfortunately I don't have any pictures sorry, we flew into the Ft. Lauderdale Airport where we rented a car (because it was cheaper and safer than our other options), drove to the Miami Airport, waited a few hours then flew to Jamaica. In Jamaica the plane had mechanical issues and so our flight was delayed 2 hours while they found another plane to take us on to Grenada. Finally on the plane we were bumped from row 7 to row 34 to "balance the plane". When we finally landed in Grenada we were the last ones off the plane because we had to wait for everyone else to get off so we could get our luggage from the front of the plane! That put us dead last in the custom's line. And for all of you here in Grenada you know what that means! So two hours later we make it through customs to find our bags. We found all our bags which was actually kind of bittersweet. We were half hoping we had lost a bag or two so we could collect on our American Express Traveler's insurance. They pay $300 for a lost bag. So anyway we got all our luggage and went out to find Maryann waiting for us with the car. The car needs a whole blog entry of its own! Two minutes into our drive the front tire goes flat! So another hour goes by and someone comes to help us with the tire. And then we actually arrive home! Home Sweet Home! So in a very long way I just wanted to let you all know that we'd gotten here safely!!
